Family Support Network Group - Annual Conference

Croi Nua would like to congratulation Sadie Grace of The Family Network Support Group on the success of their Annual Conference and to thank them for the invitation to facilitate a workshop. John Davis, Art Therapist Aislinn Centre and Geraldine Hartnett , Family Support Manager, Aislinn Centre attended the conference. John’s presentation “Dealing with Stress through Creative Art” was a great success.

Croi Nua would like to also congratulate Breda Fell, Waterford Family Support Group, Brendan Doyle, Wexford Group and Ann Dickens , Wexford Group on their continuous great work and the success of the Men’s Support Group.

Presentation in Athens, Greece.

Congratulations to Geraldine Hartnett, Aftercare Manager Aislinn Treatment Centre, Paul Conlon, Director, Coolmine and Seamus Noone, Trinity Court, on their invitation to speak at the recent conference in Athens, Greece. The theme of the conference was “Addiction in the present period of crisis – confronting the problem” the Greek and European experience.

They represented a cross section of substance misuse treatment programmes in Ireland and were wonderful ambassadors for Ireland. Representatives from Italy, France, Greece, Germany and Austria were also present.

Aislinn depends on the support of our dedicated team of volunteers and facilitators for all our Aftercare Venues.

Facilitator Training - November 2009

Facilitation training started on 9^th October. Thirty four volunteers attended, Aislinn depends on volunteers and once again we were amazed at the response to our invitation.

We have just began our sessions and already the connection with the group and the understanding of our purpose and core values reflects their ability, generosity and strength as a future facilitator for Aislinn.

Facilitator Trainers: Geraldine Hartnett, Mary Tyrrell, Pauline Murphy, Anne Stapleton and Philip O’Neill.

Guest Facilitators’: Michael Corcoran, Tom Needham , Clonmel, Dr Johanna Merry and Tony Jordan.

Volunteers have always been a very important and valued resource for Aislinn. Facilitator training for this year has commenced, if you are interested in volunteering for next year please contact Geraldine Hartnett 086-8050446

Facilitators are needed for all our Aftercare venues which are Limerick, Dublin, Cork and Kilkenny.

All volunteers are asked to agree to Gardai vetting which Aislinn will organise.

Des Bishop visits Aislinn

Des Bishop, well known comedian, visits Aislinn during the Cats Laughs Comedy Festival.

Des Bishop visited the Aislinn Adolescent Addiction Centre in Ballyragget during his recent trip to Kilkenny for the Cats Laughs Comedy Festival. He was very touched by the work he saw being carried out in the centre with the adolescents; whose lives and that of their families have been torn apart by substance misuse.

Des has kindly agreed to give ALL the proceeds of his forthcoming gig in Roisin Dubh, Galway on Sept 6th , 7th and 8th to Aislinn.

Tickets are on sale at €15.00 from usual outlets.
